Look UP CD Track Information with BCScan

We're always looking for new ways to harness the power of BCScan, our online bar code database. That's why today we're introducing track information for audio CDs. Now, you can use a bar code scanner such as the Customized Metrologic Fusion Scanner sold by A T Guys and receive track information for hundreds of thousands of music titles, courtesy of Amazon.com. If found, the info will be displayed under its own heading on the BCScan website. This makes it very simple for users to learn more about their favorite music. If you have newer cassettes or records with bar codes, many of these will work as well. Note that bar codes did not become standard on music until the 1980's. We continually work to expand the data available on the BCScan website, and will never charge for a database update. Unlike other services, we often will have new product information available the day it is released. To learn more about all of the powerful services available using a bar code scanner Visit the BCScan.com website.

A T Guys Releases First Free Accessible Game

If you've been following us on Twitter, you may have heard about our new free game. Shut the box is a rather simple, yet addictive game of chance and skill. Roll the dice to remove the numbers from the game board. In addition to its entertainment value, it's also a great way for kids to practice their addition skills. Shut the Box is completely self-voicing with any modern version of Windows and SAPI text-to-speech. Check out our new software page for more information or to download the free game.
There's more news involving A T Guys and the accessible games arena, but I've been told to keep that news quiet for the moment. But watch this space for more news in the coming days.
Shut the Box was created using the Blastbay Game Toolkit, a new, powerful audio games creation engine. The toolkit makes it simple to add sounds, menus, text-to-speech, timers, and much more to games and other projects. You can learn more by checking out the BGT website.

A T Guys Supports Open Library with Book Donation

As a company administered primarily by blind employees, we can appreciate and empathize with the struggles faced by blind and print-disabled individuals in obtaining high-quality and timely digital books in accessible formats. So we were thrilled to hear of the effort undertaken by Open Library, who recently announced an ambitious project to make the world's digital books accessible.
The Internet Archive is making its scanned digital books available to qualified members of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, the Federal program which provides books to individuals who are unable to read printed material. By doing this, they join programs including Bookshare, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, and the NLS’s own Braille and Audio Reading Download program in offering a growing catalog of accessible digital books available to students, professionals, and bibliophiles alike.
To this end, we are proud to support the Internet Archive Book Drive, a project seeking 10,000 donated books which will be converted into accessible formats. A T Guys has submitted several titles to this effort, which will greatly enhance the availability of a wide variety of book titles. Interested persons can follow the simple instructions to submit their own works, which will be scanned by the Internet Archive. Financial contributions are also accepted.
A T Guys is thrilled to support the efforts of the Open Library, and salutes the growing list of companies and individuals working toward universal access to the world's books and information.

Introduction to the A T Guys Blog

A T Guys has been providing mobile solutions to its customers for a couple of years now, while Blind Bargains, the Auction Gateway, and Zone BBS have been in existence for much longer. And while all of these and other endeavors are used by hundreds of users every day, we were lacking a way to tie it all together. Often, our various projects seemed to lack a bit of cohesion, or users of one site may not be aware of the existence of others.
In an effort to draw our family closer together and provide more insight into what exactly is happening at A T Guys, we’ve introduced this blog. It’s one of the things we’ll be launching in the coming months to provide more interaction with customers, company updates and information, and opportunities for users like you to give feedback.
We encourage you to join us as we dive head-first in to new challenges, and learn about our new and upcoming developments. You’ll also gain some insight into how we operate, and perhaps be inspired to join the ranks of blind business professionals all over the world.
We look forward to listening to your feedback and interacting with customers and potential customers alike. We also encourage you to follow us on Twitter at @atguys and send us a note. Thanks for being a part of A T Guys as we help to raise the bar on assistive technology.
